The Faculty and Staff of The Fulcrum Institute

Tufts University: The Fulcrum Insitute is housed at Tufts University on the Medford Campus. Several Tufts science and Education faculty are involved: Judah L. Schwartz, Professor of Education and Research, Professor of Physics and Astronomy, and the Principal Investigator of the Fulcrum Institute; Gary Goldstein, Professor of Physics; Roger Tobin, Professor of Physics; William Waller, Associate Professor of Physics; Linda Beardsley, Director of Student Teaching and School Partnerships and Roxane Johnson, The Fulcrum Institute Program Manager.
The Science Working Group consists of members of the science faculty at Tufts University, the TERC curriculum development team, and the TERC educational research team and has as its primary charge the development of the intellectual and cohesive story line for the sequence of courses the Fulcrum Institute is developing.

TERC: TERC is a not-for-profit education research and development organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts whose mission is to improve mathematics, science and technology teaching and learning. TERC holds the primary responsibility of working in coordination with the Science Working Group to develop the Fulcrum Institute courses and Fulcrum summer institutes. The Curriculum Development Team housed at TERC consists of Sue Doubler, Co-PI of the Fulcrum Institute; Sally Crissman, Senior Curriculum Developer; Sara Lacy, Scientist; Deborah Munson, Online Learning Coordinator; Gilly Puttick, Curriculum Developer; and Katherine Paget, Formative Evaluator. The Research Team, also housed at TERC, is directed by David Carraher with the assistance of Tracy Noble, Paul Wagoner, and Dan Cogan-Drew (From Tufts).

Malden Public School District: Malden Public School District is an active partner in the Fulcrum Institute. Former Superintendent Dr. Joan Connolly, CO-PI of the Fulcrum Institute, believes in supporting teachers in their on-going learning and training, and with this in mind, helped to develop the vision of the Fulcrum Institute. Dr. Jo Sullivan, Assistant Superintendent in charge of Curriculum Instruction and Assesment PreK-12, and Robert Sartwell, Director of Science and Health, are vital participants of the Fulcrum Institute Management Team. Several of the Fulcrum Institute participants have been recruited from the Malden Schools.
