The Partnership

The Fulcrum Institute is designed and developed by science educators, curriculum developers, educational researchers, and scientists from Tufts University, Malden Public School District and TERC (a non-profit educational research and development organization) with funding from the National Science Foundation’s MSP Program (Grant # 0412456).

The Principal Investigators of the Fulcrum Institute grant are:

  • Linda Beardsley, Director of Student Teaching and School Partnerships
  • Judah Schwartz, Senior Lecturer of Education and Research Professor of Physics and Astronomy
  • Dr. Joan Connolly, former Superintendent, Malden Public Schools
  • Dr. Susan Doubler, Project Director , TERC

Fulcrum Institute participants are K-8 teachers who enroll at Tufts University to engage with project staff in face-to -face sessions and online graduate courses in science education.
